The simple plastic bead is a versatile product found in most anglers tackle boxes. Useful in many rigging situations, even used in lure making, the plastic bead is an inexpensive, but important piece of fishing tackle.
Adding a bead, just above the swivel, to a sliding sinker rig such as a Carolina Rig, or a Santee Rig will give your know protection for the moving sinker. Adding beads to spinner or rattle rigs will allow ease of movement, allowing the spinner blade or the spinning rattle to achieve their intended purpose.
Plastic beads also add an element of attraction through sound. The movement of multiple beads can mimic the clicking sound schooling bait fish sometimes make.
Beads are used in lure making as well. Spinner baits, buzz baits, Walleye rigs, just to name a few. In these applications the beads add form and function, adding color, sound, and ease of rotation for moving parts.
