Recommendations for Best Operation of Dannco Venturi Livewell and Bait Tank Aerators

Run the Air Inlet hose to the outside of the bait tank and well above the waterline inside the tank. This will pull in fresh air from the outside and will prevent water from siphoning from the tank when the pump is not running.

Venturi work very well for bait tanks when used appropriately. They are somewhat finicky and work best when they are installed close to where the water dumps back into the tank. The further from the exit point and the more fittings, valves, etc. between the venturi and the exit, the less efficient they operate. At a certain point, when there is a lot of back pressure from the fittings, etc. downstream, they will cease to pull in air through the air inlet tube and blow water out instead.

If possible, discharge from the venturi should be plumbed in the sidewall of the tank as close as conveniently possible to the bottom. There the bubbles will have more water column to travel up and through allowing them to give up their oxygen more efficiently.

Frequently Asked Questions for Dannco Venturi Livewell and Bait Tank Aerators

Q. Can I retrofit other bait tanks besides the SuperBait Tank II?

A. Yes. A mounting hole (1-1/8" dia. for the LRV; 1-1/4 dia. for the LBRV) will have to be drilled through the divider wall between the filter compartment and the bait compartment. This should be located to either side of the filter box as close to the bottom as conveniently possible. This will allow the bubbles to stay in the water column longer and release as much oxygen to the aerated water as possible before rising to the surface.

Q. Where should the venturi be located in respect with the recirculation pump on the Dannco Venturi Livewell and Bait Tank Aerators?

A. The venturi should ALWAYS be located downstream of the pump and as close as possible to where the water discharges back into the bait compartment. The closer the better. See "How To" page.

Q. How are the venturi sized of the Dannco Venturi Livewell and Bait Tank Aerators?

A. The #5 Venturi is designed to match 350 to 500 gph pumps. The #8 Venturi was designed to match 750 to 800 gph pumps. However we have found that the #8 works very well with 500 gph pumps in tanks less than 36" deep. The #11 Venturi is designed to match 1000 to 1100 gph pumps.
