Foley spoons have long proven to the one of the all time best options to consistently catch SkipJack Herring. I personally have had Foley spoons catch bait with nothing and I mean nothing else would trigger the bite. We do recommend a selection of sizes and colors as SkipJack are a visual feeder and your will need to adjust the spoon size to match the fry hatch they are feeding on.
As for color, as any SkipJack fisherperson knows, that varies by the minute sometimes, white can be the hot color one minute and the next they will want pink, purple, blue, green, red, chrome, chartreuse, or all of the above. SkipJack can be very finicky but the results are worth the effort when it come to having fresh bait to chase the trophy catfish of a lifetime.
BDT Pro Tip: Use a Foley spoon on the end of your sabiki rigs. The added action can trigger even the most reluctant bait fish to bite.
